What it stromal fibrosis?

Anyone been diagnosed with this? I googled it and came up with a lot of nothing. My doctor wants to send me to a breast surgion, and I'm thinking if it's not cancer and it's not bothering me, leave it alone. What should my concern be with this diagnosis? I'm terrified of having to talk to a surgion.

I was just dx with stromal fibrosis and have been followed by a surgeon. The surgeon is there the be your advocate and allow to ask questions, give explanations in "english" regarding your test results and then make recommendations as to what the next steps in your treatment should be. Don't be afraid to follow up with someone (breast surgeon) who is well educated in this specialty.

Often some type of biopsy should be done to obtain a definite diagnosis. I see no reason for you to fear talking with a Surgeon. He/She will go over your films and offer an opinion as to what needs to be done,if anything, to find out what is causing the increased fibrous tissue within the breast. The Stroma is the supporting structure of an organ ... in this case the breast. It's not wise to leave something unanswered.    Regards .....
