Why do follow ups take so long???

They found a "dense" area that is a bit larger than my last mammogram.  They called to tell me they want to do more imaging and MAYBE an ultrasound.  She said they only have "limited" scheduling time for these types of follow up tests.  I told her I couldn't get in for a couple of days because of my schedule and she said "there's no rush".   Well, does that mean they don't think it is anything serious or they don't think it's going to go anywhere fast or what????   The tests were scheduled for a full week later!!!  The first two days I did some searches and found blogs like this saying most things they find are nothing.  Combined that with the the mammogram tech (or whatever she was) saying there was no rush, so I was handling it fine.   But, now nearly a week later, I can't help thinking the worst.  WHY don't they do this follow up right away!!!  It's maddening to do this to people!!!!

Take a deep breath and calm down a little. I've been there and done that. Two things come to mind, 1. They aren't that worried and 2. Even if it was cancer one week won't make that much difference. Take care and don't panic ok, Anne
