Hi,
The fact that you are being called back for a spot compression mammogram is very common. Sometimes is just the skin that has folded over on itself that looks like a shadow.Very often this shadow will disappears on spot compression, but if it doesn't,further evaluation will be necessary.
The purpose of a spot compression mammogram, which you will probably have, doesn't mean that something has to be wrong, but it is done to achieve better imaging of a particular region of the breast, especially if you have dense breasts that can make Mammographic interpretation more difficult.
Please try not to worry too much.Things might turn up to be just fine.
Wishing you all the best...
Ordinarily, you get a call back when the radiologist wants a diagnostic compression, which means that the radiologist feels that a closer, clearer image of your breast is necessary in order to make an informed interpretation. It's not all that uncommon... but, the anxiety is understandable. I've been through it myself. Take care.
