I am having an "excision biopsy" on Friday for a finding that showed up on mammogram, sonnogram and now in MRI. I started taking estrogen for pre-menopausal symptoms, had my mammogram two weeks after I started estrogen, and sonnogram about five weeks later. What they found is what is described on the MRI report as a 1.8 x 1.8 x 1.6 cm "focal masslike enhancement which is irregular in configuration and shows indeterminant enhancement kinetics." Doctor said I could either go off the estrogen for six weeks and have another MRI to see if it goes away or go ahead and have the growth/tissue removed and biopsied right away. My husband and I are both basically in panic mode. What are the chances/odds this is cancer? The report did indicate that there is nothing at all showing anywhere else in breast, nipple and areola area clear and "unremarkable findings in axillary" area. So, if it is cancer, it sounds like it would be treatable? Thanks for anything you can tell us.
