Worried about a clinical procedure

by Chrissy56, Apr 30, 2007 12:00AM
Is a mammagram normally very painful? And if so why? is there any way that it could be made less painful ? It has left me extremely traumatised.

I've never found a mammogram to be very painful.  Mostly just uncomfortable.  If your breast tissue is very dense they have to compress it a bit more to make sure they get a clear picture.  You can try deep breathing exercises and see if that helps...if it can help during labor then surely it can help some with a mammogram! Good Luck
