I was just told I have A Spot on my breast and they want me in for another mammograms called a spot compression check. What do I expect

Dear Blackie121:  It is not unusual for a “spot” to show up on a mammogram.  When this happens, a spot compression is generally recommended to further characterize what the “spot” might be.  A spot compression is a mammogram that focuses in on the area of concern.  Sometimes, it is as simple as tissue folding over on itself on the initial mammogram and this will smooth out on spot compression.  If the spot persists, further evaluation may be required.
