I know nothing about macular degenerationMacular degeneration, but I do know that when I went into see my opthamologist at the end of last year, I had developed significant cataracts since seeing him two years earlier.
Does anyone know if this is a side effect of armidex (I was on tamoxifenTamoxifen Tamoxifen citrate for 18 months until I developed PEsPes planus and was hospitalized for a week; I have been on armidex for just over 3 years)?
Thanks.
I too developed cataracts in both eyes, 1 yr from starting Arimidex (tamoxifenTamoxifen Tamoxifen citrate 2 months), now 4 yrs on. Opthalmologist said not big enough for surgery just yet, but am havingg annual check ups. Will be interested to hear from others.,

Have you read Suzanne Sommers' book. She was on Larry King and said something on this topic as related to the loss of hydrocloric acid in the digestive system as it relates to macular degeneration. The connection was radiation therapy and the regular process of again slows the production of hydrochloric acid which is connected. I don't know about the connection to the medications but this might be worth a discussion with your doctor.
