arm port vs. chest port

I am about to start chemotherapy and am wondering if an arm port or a chest port is a better way to go.

Hi there.

A chest port carries the advantage of being in an area that is less movable and therefore less prone to being touched or traumatized.  However, there is a very small but significant chance of this developing a thrombosis (blood clot) compared to an arm port.  If you want to maintain full mobility and activity in between chemotherapy sessions, then a chest port may be best.
