I am 24 years old and about 1 week ago I noticed a faint pinkish red colorColor blindness Color blindness tests Color vision test quarter sized circle on my right armpitArmpit lump. I felt the area and found a pea shaped lumpLumps in the breasts under the skin that did not move when touched. I saw the doctor who did a breast exam and thought it was an infection and put me on antibiotics The faint red area had gone away and never came back either. Two days later I went for the follow up and the Dr. felt that it spread. She sent me for an ultrasound of the right armpitArmpit lump and the right breast. The ultrasound technician said she could not see anything and could not even find my lymph nodesLymph node biopsy Swollen glands Swollen lymph nodes in the groin Swollen lymph nodes under arm in the armpitArmpit lump. She spent a large amount of time one the breast and I experienced HORRIBLE shooting pains when she sonographed 2 parts of the breast (one closer to the outer lower breast and one near the inner breast right next to the nipple) which instantaneously brought tears to my eyes and created an intense burning pain. Over the weekend I randomly felt this burning pain along with a shooting pain starting where I initially found the lump to halfway down my upper arm. Today I saw my Nurse Practitioner and Dr. and they did a breast exam again and felt a lump where the pain from the ultrasound was. They decided to send me to a surgeon to further look into this. My white blood cell count was normal and the Dr. feels as though I do not have an infection but told me to finish all of my antibiotics just to keep everything covered. Has anyone had this extreme burning sensation in the area where a lump was found? Does anyone have similiar experiences or any insight into what might be going on?
Often breast cysts can produce pain in the area. I would think this would have shown up on the Ultrasound but you don't mention the results of your test. Ater the Surgeon examines you and reviews your films he/she may recommend some type of biopsy to determine the exact nature of the lump. Pain isn't usually associated with breast cancer and your age is certainly in your favor. Regards ....
Thank you for the comment. The lump was initially found in my armpit and has since disapeared but tonight as I was sitting in my cold class I began feeling burning in both nipples and spread to both breasts. It was so intense and painful that I thought I was going to bring myself to the emergence room. I managed to get home and it stil burns but is subsiding. I feel like I am going crazy. The pain came out of nowhere and I have never experienced this before. My primary Dr. did not go over the ultrasound results with me either.
my last comment was scattered because I was in a great deal of pain. My Dr. wants me to get the sonography films and bring them with me to the surgeon to go over. My appointment isn't until Oct. 7th with the surgeon though. Tonight, the burning pain started in both nipples at the same time and began to radiate to the breasts creating excruciating pain. I literally could not move it hurt so bad. I took 3 aleve as a strong quick fix to try to get rid of the pain. It helped to make sitting here bearable. My shirt alone feels like it is rubbing sand paper over my nipples and giving my breasts in general black and blue marks.
Also, when I was 16 my GYN found a cyst in my right breast which was ultrasounded and they found nothing at the time and went no further. I had no pain with that one. My right breast is also at least one entire size larger than my left breast. My GYN always said this nothing to worry about and that some women just have different sized breasts and actually suggested cosmetic augmentation because of the noticable difference. These past few Dr. visits have been the first time any other Dr. has done a breast exam on me and when they saw the difference in size the nirse practitioner and Dr. both asked if it had ever been looked into before. I told them my GYN said it was normal and they both looked at me funny but didn't mention anything else. I feel like all of these symptoms mean nothing and don't make sense all together. Does anyone see anything that makes sense aside from what was already said. This sudden and intense burning sensation is really unbearable and I want to cry.
I'm not sure about the pain you describe since it is in both breasts. I do feel that some further investigation may help and going over the films will be a valuable start. Breasts can become painful for several reasons but pain usually isn't associated with breast cancer. It is true that women rarely have the same size breasts and without any other symptoms (aside from the pain) I doubt that this means too much in your case. You might call the Surgeon's office and tell them if they have a cancellation to please call you ...... you could possibly get in sooner than Oct. and I think this would help ease your mind about this. A person's response to pain has to be taken into consideration also; we all "feel" pain in different degrees you know. Take care ....
Hello again and thank you for your comments!
I called my primary Dr. and explained the burning pain I had in both breasts and she immediately got me in with my gynocologist tomorrow morning to discuss breast disease. I did a search on breast disease and found various things that didn't help but hopefully my GYN will be able to figure something out. So far I have not experienced this burning pain today thank god!I will come back with an update. I'm fortunate I got an appointment so quickly.
I just got back from the gynocologist visit. Upon my breast exam she noticed nipple discharge and the cystic tissue on my right breast. She is sending me for an ultrasound of my left breast today to observe cystic changes in both breasts. She also said my breast tissue is more sense than usual. Tomorrow I am going for more bloodwork to check how my pituitary gland is functioning called Prolactin levels, and also doing 2 other blood tests called T4(free) and TSH, both I believe checking thyroid functioning. As far as the unusual burning sensations in both breasts are concerned, she has no answer. She asked if I had recent injury because extreme and sudden burning sensations as I describe are indicative of nerve damage. I have not had any injuries though and she said this symptom is very unusual to just occur while one is sitting in a class or relaxing as it has happened several times within the last week and a half at a milder degree. We are still at the wait and see stage until more test results come in and I see the surgeon on Oct. 7th.
Any other comments regarding the new nature of tests being done on me, please feel free. I am interested in what anyone has experienced because thus far I have not recieved an answer as to why the severe burning pain is occuring in both breasts.
I am once again experienced this unbearable burning pain while sitting at the computer. It started out by feeling as though both nipples were getting hard. I lifted my shirt to check and they were not. (I understand this may sound odd, but I am keeping close track of what is going on with my body these days because of the pain) This hard nipple feeling lasted for about 20 minutes or so and then both nipples becan burning and the pain began to intensify, then spreading to both breasts as well. The burning pain was felt inside the breasts and I could not feel tenderness or any other thing associated with pain because the burning sensations were so intensified. I tried holding off on pain medicine to see what would happen and opted to do a mirror check to see if there were any changes during this episode. My left nipple looked as though it had an extra smaller nipple coming from the left upper side and was darker red in color and there is a piece of skin hanging from the other side that is tan in color. The aerola of the left breast looks puffy and has small fluid filled pimple looking things with reddish color around some of them and a irritated looking pinkish blotchy skin around where my aerola extends. The right breast had the exteded pinkish blotchy color on the top portion only and there was clear leakage found in the creases under my nipple twice only on the right side. The burning sensation decreased and left my nipples feeling hard and sore and my breasts feel like they have black and blue marks all over them again. And to think yesterday I was almost symptom free only feeling minor burning sensations maybe twice in the day.
I am continuing to write and keep updates in case this ends up helping someone one day. Again, comments are more than welcome!
