atypical ductal hyperplasia

What is the difference between "atypical ductal hyperplasia" and "atypical duct epithilial hyperplasia"? Is this the same diagnosis?

Hi,
I would say yes to your question.
Epithelial duct hyperplasias is common. It indicates growth of breast tissue, this is fine for as long as it is NOT marked with "Atypia" If it does, then the report would read Atypical Ductal Hyperplasia (ADH)
ADH, isn't cancer but it can be a forerunner to the development of breast cancer.  If the atypical hyperplasia cells keep dividing and become more abnormal, the condition may be reclassified as carcinoma in situ or noninvasive breast cancer.
If you have been diagnosed with these findings,it's important to follow your doctor recommendations.
Best wishes...
