Hi,

There is difference between both these drugs. Betamethosone is a stronger steroid than mometasone(elocon) and hence mometasone is recommended for tender areas such as the site of your lesion. You may get a third opinion, but you must try out the treatment advised by your doctor for the requisite period. It is also advisable that you maintain good hygiene of the site as well as keep the area moist by using a moisturizer.

Please let us know if you have any doubts and also keep us posted on your health.

Good luck.
