Have just been  diagnosed  with stage 2 breast .ca . Am having ct and bone scan for staging and will discuss  surgery.
My  partner has had recent urgent  cardiac surgery in the last 3 weeks, and I am her career .she obviously  can't  drive
Or lift  above  2 kg. For 6 to 12 weeks
When i have my surgery i will be in the same  situation ,but for a shorter period.

Only personal experience with a single mastectomy but I think each woman who has this procedure will have a different experience. I was in the hosp. overnight and discharged to activity as tolerated. The drains aren't really much of a problem .... they are rather easy to deal with and you will be given adequate instruction on how to deal with them before you are discharged. Some women had virtually no pain following the procedure and some seem to have considerable pain or discomfort. It's so individual that it's hard to clue you in on what will happen in your case. You might contact the Amer. Cancer Society as there are tapes and CDs available concerning what you may do in the way of exercise after surgery .... of course your Surgeon would have the last word on this as most Dr.s have a routine for post-op care and activity for all their patients. Here's wishing you an uneventful and speedy recovery .... as far as the driving you mentioned; I had no restriction but once again that will be up to your Surgeon.  Regards ....
