biopsy

I had 2 mammograms and an ultrasound done. The report shows incidental cyst at 9 o'clock region. This is small, largest measuring about 0.3cm in diameter. Within the mid portion 12 o'clock region there is a solid heterogeneous 0.4 x 0.4 x 0.5 cm in diameter nodularity which demonstrates internal blood blow on color-flow Doppler interrogation. My dr. is recommending ultrasound-guided needle localization by excisional biposy . I am wondering if this is an extreme recommendation. I have met with a surgeon and he is suggesting the same thing. He also said that he does not believe this is cancer and I can wait for 6 weeks and have another mammogram. Sometimes the lump disappears.
I am wondering if I can wait and have another mammogram and keep following up without having the excisional biopsy done.
