birth control after breast cancer

i am a 51 year old woman who was diagnosed with breast cancer at 45 had lumpectomy radiation treatment and 5 years on tamoxifen i have not had a period since being put on the tamoxifen i was in a drug induced menopause now 6 months ago i was taken off the tamoxifen and tested to see if i was in a natural menopause i was not and since have started having a period i have always had painful cramping with my periods and now that its back that has not changed my question is birth control pills had always helped before to lessen the painful cramps what are my risks if i wanted to go back on them can i go back on them?

I doubt they will put you on birth control pills. Don't be surprised if they suggest an oopherectomy or shots to bring on menopause instead.

I would not care to advise you concerning this matter ... you should take this up with your Oncologist who has your complete medical history. There may be other options to help with your discomfort if the birth control med. is not allowed.   Regards ..
