black looking discharge

I have what looks like black discharge from one breast, I have no history of breast cancer in my family, but my father did die of cancer 4mths after I was born.  I also have a cyst on my thyroid, which when tested comes back 'non-diagnostic', I have have it for 3 yrs and tests on my thyroid come back that it is functioning normal, but the needle biopsy's on the cyst come back non-diagnostic and now I have this discharge which really concerns me.  The discharge only appears if squeezed.  Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks

Dear jcollins:  The time to be concerned about nipple discharge is when it is spontaneous (appears without squeezing), unilateral (on one side), is bloody or clear and sticky (like an egg white).  You should consider an appointment with a physician who may want to do a procedure like ductoscopy or ductal lavage.  Sometimes a papilloma can cause bloody discharge.  Old blood can sometimes look blackish.
