breast calcifications w/saline implants

Hello I am 41 and recently had a mammogram that showed groupings of calcifications in my right breast.  Had some additional views done.  The Radiologist said probably benign (category 3) and told me I could wait 6 months or see a breast surgeon.  A needle bioppsy is not likely since I have saline implants over the chest muscle.  Apparently I had calcifications in my first mammo (9/08) which no one informed me of (baseline) and they have increased since then. I am seeing a breast surgeon tomorrow.  Everything I have read indicates worst case scenario it is non-invasive cancer so I keep telling myself it will be an expensive, uncomfortable inconveinance it shouldn't kill me though. I just hope I don't have to go through this every year.  It's only my 2nd mammo and already have issues - yikes.  Thanks for giving me a place to vent.  If anyone else has gone through this (w/implants) I would love to hear your comments.  Well wishes to everyone.

Not all calcifications are an indication of breast cancer ..... many are due to benign causes so I wouldn't be looking too far ahead just yet. Calcifications are seen normally scattered about the tissue. It's only when they are observed in groups or clusters that they are cause for concern and even then they needn't be due to cancer. If you were given the option to wait 6 months (the BIRADS 3 score) then a biopsy isn't deemed to be absolutely necessary at this time. If it were your BIRADS score would have been a 4.  I probably would have waited for the re-check in 6 months but you should do whatever puts your mind at ease.     Regards .....
