I would guess that the calcifications you mention were probably found clustered since they are normally found scattered in breast tissue. When they are found in groups/ clusters a biopsy of some type is always recommended to discover their cause. Breast cancer has no symptoms; especially at an early stage. A lump is most often the first indication that something isn't right; hence the need to have annual mammograms for early detection. Keep in mind though that all calcifications are not due to cancer ... many are found to be benign on biopsy. The spot compression mammo will give a magnified view of one specific area within the breast. I would say don't worry too much just yet but we all worry at the mere mention of even the possibility of cancer ... I will say don't freak out too much though .... Keep us posted and feel free to come back with any questions or concerns that you have. Regards ....
