breast cancer

i had colloid carcinoma and had surgery to get it removed. after the surgery the lymph node test came back negative , so i have to choose between taking the medicine tamoxifen or chemotherapy.i was thinking since the lymph node test came back negative that i should go with the pill instead of chemo even still both have serious side effects. the choice is hard but im leaning towards the pill, because the word chemo scares me. can i please get some advise ...thank you.

Dear Rosy, Recommendations for adjuvant treatment (treatment given after surgery to try to prevent or minimize the growth of microscopic deposits of tumor cells that might grow into a recurrent tumor), are based on various factors.  These factors include; size of the tumor, estrogen receptor status, lymph node involvement, the surgical margins

I was curious about your comment regarding either taking Tamoxifen OR having chemotherapy, because as far as I know, Tamoxifen is used in an attempt to prevent further occurrence, whereas chemotherapy would be used to treat disease. (But I'm not a medical practitioner). So, I did an internet search and see that the National Comprehensive Cancer Network www.nccn.org gives guidelines for treatment. There is a lot of information out there to help us make decisions, and all of it must be checked carefully. Have you had any other opinions?
