Dear Lisa - depending on where you live in Texas, I would go to MD Anderson Cancer Center! I took part of my training to be a medical librarian, at their library, prior to my husband being transferred to Iowa.  If you live in North Texas, there are also good hospitals in the Dallas area.  There are also wonderful resources online at sites such as Medline Plus, Mayo Clinic,  and Cancer. org to name only a few.  The librarians (use of reference person, not just someone at the circulation desk) at public libraries can direct you to good resources.  Depending on the collection at your public library, there may be newer resources, such as actual books, if you don't feel comfortable talking to someone.  The State of Texas library may also be able to offer you help.  Librarians are trained to help, so please use us!  I head to the Iowa Library Association conference tomorrow and one of the topics is helping patrons/the public in general to gain access to health information.  I hope I learn even more to help people like you. - Kay
