breast cycst

Hello,
I just had my mamagram and they found a small spot. I then had the ultra sound. The Doctors told me it looked like a small cycst and we would do a follow up in 6 months. The question I need to know is about harmone replacement meds. I am  have been taking Estratest for many years. Should I continue? Could this medication cause more problems for the cycst to  grow? My GYN thinks harmone replacement does not contribute to breast cancer. I have read different publications that believe it does. Please advise.

Maggie   there are a lot of studies that suggest that HRT could cause breast cancer.  One thing they do know for sure is that estrogen will feed some cancers.  I think you need to discuss this further with your gyn.  For those women who do opt for HRT, they are getting lower doses and for just a few years.  It is definitely something to consider very seriously.
