breast hematoma and ultrasound

by mehitabelle, Oct 24, 2006 12:00AM
I've had an ultrasound because of a bruise on my right breast, at 9:00, and a lump directly under it.  The ultra sound was read by a radiologist who said the lump is a hematoma.  It's been over a week; the lump is still there. I do not bruise easily, and I do not recall any thing happening that could have given me the bruise (or the hematoma).  I've never had either before.  My question is:  can an ultrasound be 100% accurate about the lump being a hematoma?  Or is there a chance, however small, that it's something else (and cancer, particularly inflammatory, given the bruise, is what I'm worried about).  Thanks!
