breast itching

by Maggiexiao, Apr 22, 2008 05:52PM
For the past 4 months, I found my right breast itching, part of areola skin turns dark and cracks. It becomes serious at night. Is it dermatitis or Paget's?

Hi there.

Itching from the areola can mean several things.  A possible cause is excessive skin dryness that can cause that itching and scaling.  Infections can also cause itching especially fungal infections on the skin surrounding the areola or on the areola itself.  I suggest you take this to your doctor or a dermatologist for proper assessment.  If he suspects something else then he may perform a biopsy of the skin overlying the area for pathologic examination.

Regards and God bless.

Hi, so nice to get your response. I saw doctor and he said it's not Paget's, and he did punch biopsy. Now I'm waiting for the result. Hope it won't be too serious.

Thnx!
