I recently had a 6 mo recheck mamo and ultrasound. The nodule shows a complex cystic structure measuring 8mm in diameter, having some internal echos, and a relatively thick wall. This lesion is not unequivocally benign an biposy is recommended. BIRADS IV. I have an appointment with a surgeon on Wed. Don't really understand?
Dear littlecyn: Essentially, the mammogram and ultrasound have identified a cyst that has some solid parts to it. Since these tests cannot rule out cancer, a biopsy is being recommended to determine what those solid parts may be.
