breast microcalcifercations

I had a lumpectomy on Feb. 11, 2011 and now waiting for my next appointment to my Dr. What can  i expect next? I don't know if I will have to have radiation therapy.  I didn't stay in surgery very long and was told the doctor didn't have to do as much as he thought he had to do. i'm still worried about recurrence.

You don't state your diagnosis and the reason for the lumpectomy. The Pathology report will tell what the future holds as far as treatment is concerned as well as if clean margins were obtained with the lumpectomy. It would help to know the reason for the surgery ... if it was done to remove microcalcifications then I'm not sure why you would be concerned about recurrence until you have a complete diagnosis. It's hard to say whether Radiation will be a part of your post-op treatment but that will be determined by the Oncologist after your final reports are in and discussed. Hormone therapy might also be a part of the treatment whether you have Radiation or not.   Regards ...
