i had breast cancer back in 2001. I just got off  Tamoxifen in Novermber. Two weeks ago i started having sharp pains in my breast and also they are so sore to touch. Could this be one of the side effect of getting off  Tamoxifen. When i was told I had cancer i too was having sharp pains.

Dear msLabelle:  Breast pain is very common and there are many possible explanations.  Breast pain after surgery is quite common. Other causes of breast pain include hormonal fluctuation related to the menstrual cycle – breasts are often painful during certain times of the menstrual cycle.  Most breast cancer is not painful.  Without examination, it is not possible for us to speculate on the cause of your discomfort.  You may want to follow up with your doctor who can do a breast examination and make any necessary recommendations for follow up.
