breast reconstruction

i'm 38 and was just told i have stage I breast cancer.  my mom and grandmother both have had breast cancer...i was looking into the masectomy and bilateral breast reconstruction.would that be a wise choice or take the rad treatments? i also wonder the % of it coming back..tk69

it was found in the lobules..my surgeon has given me the option along with the rad treatment option.. i'm just scared of making such a "BIG" decision.  i have given it a lot of thought because of family history and what i'm going through now...i go back soon for mri results that may help my in my decision making..just trying to get info...thanks

Have you had genetic testing done?  What does your breast surgeon and / or the oncologist say?  What type of BC do you have?  I had stage two and mastectomy wasn't even considered in my case.  I think before you make any decisions, you need way more info.  Personally, I would not want reconstruction of any kind if I didn't need it.  Talk to the docs and get their opinions.  The pathology should give them/you enough info to start making an informed decision.
