breast will not heal

Hi there i am asking anyone, i have stage 4 breast cancer and lumps in my neck are in operable i had chemo and 25 radation treatments that did not work. Now since my radation treatments which i was in the hosptial for two weeks for servere burns will not heal i don't no if it is because of the cancer or what. i am at my wit end can anyone help me understand. i am 60 years old   Thank You Peggy

I am trying to understand what you are saying completely but need your help clarifying.

You got these burns from radiation treatment? Did you start out with breast cancer? Did you have radiation and/or chemo for your breast cancer and then got mets later, or did you have chemo and radiation for mets and your becoming stage 4, or both? And where do you get the radiation to?

These are just a few questions. I am of course really sorry you are going through this and that this happened to you. I also want to understand and I think it may help you also to understand by making sure you have asked and answered the questions along the way. I am not trying to be a wise guy but this sometimes really helps me;  sort off like understanding something together?

Especially chemo but also radiation could be responsible for  your healing delay and also very much the cancer itself.

Well it started last Dec.2008 with lumps in my neck and under my arm i went to my Doctor she said wait until after Xmas. Well after Xmas i took almost 2 months to have a biobsy done which at that point they said the tumor was wrapped around to many limbnotes so they sent me for a ped scan to find out where it started from they say the breast but they can not find the cancer in the breast he said he could take my breast and cut it in pieces and he still would not be able to find the cancer.so i stared which was going to be 6 to8 chemo treatments but my heart function went really low so they had to only give me 4 and i was delayed for weeks in between my treatments i don't no if that would hurt or not. then i had 25 radation treatments and comming on the end of them i really became burned really bad of course that is when they told me i was stage 4 and the could not operate on me i really don't no where i stan i would like to no if i am in the dieing proess or not i keep asking and it is like they are just puting me off. really getting tired and scared.  Thanks Peggy

I understand, Peggy, as I am in not such different situation as you. Telling you nothing, treating you like an idiot, changing the subject, telling you it's nothing....?

So, did you have the radiation treatments to the neck, then?

Are you also on Decadron nor another steroid? Because that really lowers your resistance to healing as well.

I am so sorry ...and, yes, I do understand. I think you really need to realize that they are just human, if I agree pathetic when it comes to interacting with our types, almost unbelievably childish.

And, because of that, and this has helped after someone else gave me this advice, you need to not let it go, even if I understand you don't want them to tell you you have 2.5 weeks to live either, I mean that specifically.

But instead, lets say you are telling your oncologist that you need to have an idea what to expect, and what the purpose of treatment is, or what about the burns, and why?

If he/she responds to you with something totally unrelated, you may need to say: "I don't think you heard me. I asked about 'such and such' and you responded with 'other than such".

Also, I have found it much more helpful to address some of the nurses I trust and the doctor's assistants. many of them have had cancer themselves and they are much more understanding and honest. (unlike technicians and in other fields) I mean the nurses specifically in oncology.
