I have a small, hard sore lump in my right breast that is painful and aches-can this be serious

Hi.  It might be helpful if you can give additional details about yourself and your lump.  How old are you? How big is that lump? What is it's shape and consistency (hard, soft, doughy)? Are there other associated symptoms such as fever, or redness of the skin around the lump?  Does it ache all the time, or is it more painful as your menstrual period approaches?

From your description, the lump seems to be an inflammation in your breast (mastitis), but I cannot rule out some other possibilities like fibroadenoma or fibrocystic disease at this point.  Additional details regarding your condition will surely help. Hope to hear from you again.
