bruise around my areola

can a bruise around my nipple area affect the results of a mammogram ??? I just had a mammogram done and I was asked how I got that bruise ??      they called me the next day because they wand to do another one,  I have to wait another weed to do another I'm afraid ,,,

They usually make notatations at the time of a mammogram regarding any bruises, previous surgeries, scars, etc., so that the radiologist can take those features into account when reading the images.

It's not at all unusual to get a call-back for additional imaging (such as spot compression) after a routine mammogram, so it could well be related to someting besides the bruise. Meanwhile, try not to panic.

I've had this happen 3 times over recent years, and each time everything turned out okay.

Hi Frances, It could block some spot on the mammogram depending how big it is, it's a pooling of blood so the darker spot might block a spot and they want to be sure there is nothing under the bruise.  Try not to worry, be glad they are checking on it.
