calcifications

by carol05, Jun 29, 2009 11:10PM
I am having a sterotatic biopsy this week on a calcification area.  Why are they doing a biopsy on this if calcifications not not cancer?

Often, doctors feel that a biopsy is the medically responsible approach whenever abnormalities (such as calcifications) develop.
So, although they are rarely cancerous; there's always that possibility they could be.
And, the biopsy would be the final word in terms of knowing the nature of the growths.
Better safe than sorry... good luck with the biopsy.

I am going to have a stereotactic biopsy for calcifications too.  Hope yours goes well.  Please let us know your results and good luck!
