chemo?

chemo?

I had a double mastectomy for IDC in the right breast.  Grade 3 cells, HER2 -, ER/PR +, Stage 1c, 2+cm tumor, lymph node - . Might chemo be part of my treatment?

Chemotherapy could well be a part of your adjuvant treatment as well as tamoxifen or aromatase inhibitors, both of which are effective in ER?PR + tumor cases.

You will need to discuss this with your oncologist and ask enough questions so that you understand your particular cancer and your treatment options.  One of the general rules of thumb is that chemo would be indicated for a tumor that is 2+cm.  There are several different regimens of chemotherapy drugs that can be used. You and your oncologist can discuss the options and why one is better than another for you.

Feel free to comment back on this thread and we will help you through treatment, whichever way you decide.  Most of us have experienced a lot of treatment and may be able to offer tips and insights that help you get through.  I am thinking of you.
