BREAST CANCER EXPERT FORUM
concern?

concern?

Approx. 18 months ago I had 2 excisional biopsies done on my right breast.  Both had benign findings, but as put in report "florid hyperplasia no malignancy identified."  At this site they also removed an intraductal papilloma with complex and florid apocrine ductal hyperplasia.
I now have found a pea-sized lump directly underneath the nipple in the same breast, the area surrounding it is quite painful to the touch.  I have read enough responses that pain is usually not associated with breast cancer so I am thinking of not pursuing this.  I had a complete hysterectomy at age 40 and had been on Premarin for about 5 years and then switched to estrogen alone for the last 6 yrs.  Could this pain be related to fibrocystic changes?
Thank you so much for the wonderful forum you provide for all.

Dear grammy2:  Cysts can, at times, cause pain.  And, although breast cancer is rarely associated with pain, if your discomfort continues for more than a week, you should see a breast specialist to identify the cause.
