My 16 year old daughter has to have a biopsy of a lump in her breast. the doc mentioned fibroadenoma, can this be painful and can it be a solid mass?

Hi,
Fibroadenomas are benign(Non cancerous) solid breast tumors mainly found in young women due to hormonal changes.
Many doctors opt to have this kind of lump biopsied,to make sure that it's indeed a fibroadenomas and if it is, then it can be left alone.However if it becomes too large or painful, the lump can be surgically removed.
The biopsy is a painless simple procedure( the area is numbed) which is the only way to know exactly the true nature of this lump.
