cyst not going away

cyst not going away

Hi I need to know if a cyst that doesnt go away is normal? I had all the nessacary test the mammogram and then a ultra sound to confirm that this is indeed a cyst. But that was done in February , the same cyst is still there it seems so big now and its a little sore. My doctor says it can be there for a long time but Im scared because I just dont know. Well my doctor just retired and now I got to see another one next week. Im scared becaue I think she might say something differnt. On my mammogram that I saw in Feb this cyst and all where completely round no sharp edges etc. I had a ultra sound to confirm but this one never seems to go away . Should I be concerned I already had 2 taken out. I am prone to cyst I get them all the time in each breast but this one is really bothering me. I dont want to have surgery if I dont need it. and I guess the doctor said these are simple cyst not complex. any information is greatly appriciated thanks. oh I am almost 40

Dear ev900:  In general, there is no reason to remove or aspirate a simple cyst unless they cause a problem, such as pain.  One factor that contributes to the development of cysts is caffeine.  If you have not done so already, you should reduce your caffeine intake.

cysts generally don't go away unless drained or removed. On the other hand, when it's known to be a cyst, it's not something to worry about, and not something that needs removal unless it bothers you enough to want it done. A cyst is not dangerous.
