cysts and calcifacations

i am 38 , my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer last year, and her twin the year before. i recently went for my first mamog. in a week they called me back in for a second mamog,..and ultrasound of my right breast, thats when they found a cyst the sizeof a kiwi, and calcifications around it, they want me to have a biopsey on the calcifications.... is this necessary procedure?  how likely  are these calcifactions malignant?

Absolutely, this biopsy is necessary, especially with your family history. I would say it's almost as likely as not that the calcifications may return a positive result for cancer. I don't think you should be "freaking" out about it but I certainly don't think you should question the necessity of his procedure.  Kindest regards ....
