cysts

After three ultrasounds over 5 months the doctors and radiologists have pretty much determined I have cystic breasts. I am becoming more comfortable with this, but still have questions. Originally, I was told I had a complex cyst in addition to a simple cyst and a solid appearing nodule which was most likely a fibroid adenoma. All very tiny. Two ultrasounds showed the one cyst as complex, but the last one showed the same cyst as simple. The surgeon suggested that it had maybe "resolved" itself. Is this possible? The cyst is still there, same size, just not showing any signs of debris. Do cysts just change like that? Also, what was considered a solid nodule on two ultrasounds is now being called just normal breast tissue. Still seeing "something" but it is now not as likely to be mass like as just normal tissue.  I am thankful if these most recent findings are correct, but confused that everything is still there, although, not significant. My surgeon wants me to go back for one more follow up US in 6 months just because she likes to follow any findings for at least a year. What do you think?

Dear gradysmom:  Breast cysts can, and do, resolve.  Breast cysts vary with menstrual cycles and caffiene consumption, for example.  From what you describe, it sounds as though your medical team (radiologists and doctors) all agree that this is not suspicious for cancer.  It's reasonable to follow up in 6 months.
