discomfort at lumpectomy site

discomfort at lumpectomy site

I had a lumpectomy in 2002 followed by chemo and radiation. I have had some discomfort around the ribs because the site was close to the ribs. In 2010, a different tumor was detected in the same breast and I opted for a double mastectomy with reconstruction. About 10 days ago, I began feeling discomfort at the the first site where I had the lumpectomy - it now feels like I have a "boil" in the area and I have pain when I try to do anything with my arm by my side. There is no redness or swelling that can be observed, the area is not warm (any warmer than the skin near by) to touch, yet it feels uncomfortable. I have a doctor's appointment, but in the past they refer me to "pain clinics" which do not help.
Any ideas?
