fibrodemona

Hello everyone, my daughter is now just 15 years old and still does not have a period.  last year she was nearly flat chested in september and by december had grown very big.  she asked me to look at her breasts as they were very swollen and very red.  i took her to the doctor and he told me that she had a infection and put her on antibiotics.  the antibiotics did not work and so i took her to see my gyni and he recommended us to see a breast specialist.  we saw him and he said it was nothing and she go home.  i was very unhappy and took her to see someone else who was highly recommended and he took one look and told us to take her immediatley to get an ultrasound.  the ultrasound detected she had a large lump and they were all very nervous.  she had a biospy done 2 days later in a private hospital with one of the best biospy specialists in israel where we live.  the biospy came back negative to tell us that she had fibrodemonia's .  we then spoke immediatley to london to find out exactly what we should do with this situation and if israel could deal with this problem.  he told us yes and would fly out to see her if needed. we took her to see the best breast clinic in israel and took another ultrasound to find out that the tumor had grown to 11 cm . he wanted it out straight away.. she had the operation and the tumor came out at 16cm with other s attached to it.  she rececoverd within in weeks and was seen again last month.  the breast surgeon understoood that she had others and not just in the left breast that was operated on but the right aswell had grown . we had another ultrasound and found out that they are 5\6cm and multiple.  they hurt her aswell.  we saw the doctor today and the professor of the department and they do not want to operate now and want to see her in another 4 months to do ultrasound.  she is 75f now and still no period.  i do not want her to keep having surgery and am worried that her breasts will carry on growing (remember is just 15) .  why does she still not have a period and why is she getting so many fibrodemona's without a period.  she is miserable, but she is so beautiful that this gives her a tiny bit of confidence.  we did do a big blood count on her to do with hormones and she was fine, tomorrow i am doing another one as i am worried.  please let me know what you think.

You have evidently consulted some excellent medical practitioners regarding your Daughter's problem and their advice seems quite reasonable under the circumstances. Fibrocystic Breast Condition affects nearly one half of all women and often begins in the teen years. These Fibroadenomas are basically benign breast tumors that can often grow rapidly and can cause considerable discomfort. Most times these tumors are just left alone unless they become very large and/or cause a lot of pain. There is some thought that these tumors could be related to the hormone levels in the body but this has not been proven as fact. Simple cysts are hormone related but they differ from Fibroadenomas. There is an Expert Forum on Gynocology and you might post there regarding the fact that your Daughter has not yet begun her menstrual periods. The age for onset of Menses does vary so I'm not sure that this is something to be overly concerned about. This and the breast issue may not necessarily be related. If you could find a Physician who deals with Pediatric Gynocological issues you might see him/her but stay with the Breast Specialist for the breast issues. Kindest regards ....

p.s. One additioinal point: Questions in this forum are answered by survivors and other volunteers generally not identified as medical professionals.

If you still believe an Internet medical opinion would be helpful, you might post in the BC Expert Forum.

However, if you are not satisfied with the recommendations that have been made by the specialists who are treating your daughter, I believe your best bet would be to seek a 2nd  (or 3rd, or 4th) opinion through in-person consultation for her  with another, or other, top experts.

Once again, best wishes.

You  consulted with someone in London, the "best biopsy specialists in Israel" performed your daughter's biopsy, and you have had your daughter examined at  "the best breast clinic in Israel." The doctor and "professor of  the department" have made recommendations to you. Presumably most of these experts have actually examined her, and have access to  all of her medical and tests results.

Surely, anyone over the Internet, who has not even examined her or studied her full medical history, could not provide better information or advice than  that which you already have available from all of those experts.

Best wishes to both you and your daughter.
