My hair is growing in slowly and super curly.  I have always had nice gleaming hair with a slight curl at the ends.  I am happy to finally not be bald however I am so uncomfortable with the short curly hair.  I still wear my wig when I leave the house.

Embrace your new look!  My hair also came back in super curly.  When it was still very short and very curly, I had it bleached platinum blonde and got my ears double pierced to complete the look.  As a high school teacher, my students loved my rad new look after seeing me in a wig for the previous six months.  My curly hair did not last.  In less than a year it was back to straight...just finer and thinner.  I found that I had enjoyed my curly hair, so now I get perms.  The new me...post breast cancer...is different than the old me.  Not better, not worse, just different.

I can totally relate to the slow hair growth. I finished chemo on 08/20 and my hair is growing at a turtle's pace. I am still on herceptin so maybe thats it. And although I like the new texture it's thin. I pray it gets thicker! I also still wear my wigs.

I finished chemo 11/20. My hair is growing back - maybe half an inch now. I am 37 years old. I knew I had a lot of grey, but I kept it dyed brown. Now, as it grows back, there is clearly a lot of white hair. I'm ready to wear it super-short, but not ready to be more than half white-haired. How soon can I dye it? Any special dye to use? Thank you.

My 80 year old mother finished chemo this past September; and it's growing back curly and totally unmanageable... my mom hates it!  At first it had a "punked out" look; then, she looked like Gertrude Stein; now, she resembles Harpo Marx! We all have a good laugh about it... especially my mom. It's my understanding, however, that this curly new growth is temporary. Once it grows out and the curls are cut; the incoming hair will be closer to how it originally looked.

I was told no hair dye for a minimum of 6 months after chemo.
Mine came back almost totally white. It had been colored red and was almost to my waist prior to chemo. It's different but I like it. I look in the mirror and I see my Mother looking back at me, which makes me laugh, and since she died of cancer, it makes me cry too, it's bittersweet, you know?
I'm happy in my new do :)     I think I'll keep it.
