hand cramps

hand cramps

ever since chemo, I have had hand cramps after working 3 to 4 hours, I am a hairdresser. My fingers cramp up so bad I have to stop working. Any advice would be wonderful, thank you.

Dear Pandb, Certain chemotherapies can have side effects which effect the fine peripheral nerves in the fingers.  These are most often associated with the taxanes (taxol, taxotere).  Generally these "peripheral neuropathies" ease the further you are from chemotherapy.  The chemotherapy may have compounded some effects that may be associated with your type of work.   Certain occupations, such as hairdressing, that involve a great deal of work with the hands, are more susceptible to problems due to the repetitive nature of the work.  There has been much study in the field of ergonomics
