help for menopause

help for menopause

I had breast cancer in 2003 and cannot take menopausal drugs due to pos braca genes.  is there anything i can take that will not harm me?

This is something you need to discuss with both your Oncologist and GYN. There are some natural preparations that are said to help and some Dr.s will prescribe a very low dose medication for a short time. All this would have to be decided in relation to your complete medical history.    Regards ....

Menopause can be accompanied by many or relatively few symptoms, depending on the person. What symptom(s) are you wanting help for?  

If you are talking mainly about hot flashes, there are several antidepressants that can help, as well as some other non-hormone prescription medications. Accupuncture and exercise also are quite effective in managing hot flashes for many women.

Your GYN should be able to offer you help, but  as japdip advised, be sure any meds--or "natural remedies"--suggested are cleared by your oncologist.
