Hi,

I am her2+ as well. I am presently going through chemo. I am am on dose dense regimine, with round 2 coming up tomorrow. I will have the surgery in june followed by treatment along with herceptin, and finally radiation.

I would inquire with your oncologist if herceptin would be good for you. I do know that they just recently started using it as normal treatment for her2+ . I was told that I would be on it for atleast a year after radiation.

Please let me know what they suggest for you.

By the way six years out AWESOME!!!!!

Hi there.

Six years ago, Herceptin may still not be standard of care for the adjuvant treatment of breast cancer after standard chemotherapy.  This maybe the reason that your doctor did not mention or recommend this treatment.  During that time, I think Herceptin is being used for metastatic Her2+ breast cancer and not for adjuvant treatment.  Presently, it is now approved for the adjuvant treatment of breast cancer Her2+ (treatment right after surgery), based on the clinical trials that have proved its value.  I suggest you continue with your surveillance and discuss this further with your oncologist.

Regards and God bless.
