high calcium level/ cancer

In 1993 I was told I had breast cancer, it had invaded into my lymph nodes. Had masectomy and chemo follow up for six months. Since then I have been in remission. The oncologist told me I was 99.9 percent cured.
Right now I am being treated for depression given Lexapro, have had good results, but when i had blood tests to check  my liver, kidney function amongt other tests I was told my calcium levels were elevated. Can this be an indication of a cancer returning? Should I be calling my oncologist, I do have an appointment in July to see him.
My primary doctor who did the tests wants me to retake the test in two weeks, I had planned on going on vacation. Should I rethink the  vacation plans, My Doctor does'nt seem to be overly concerned. I'm really concerned and not sure what to do or think.
Can someone shed some light on this?

Dear nanapeggy:  Elevated calcium can occur for a variety of reasons including cancer as well as benign conditions such as overactivity of the parathyroid glands.  The amount of elevation and the presence or absence of additional symptoms are important in determining what steps may need to be taken.  You may benefit by having this direct discussion with your primary doctor - informing him of your concern.  You may also discuss this with your oncologist (although he/she will need to know the exact value and may want to look at the rest of the lab work).  He/she may be able to discuss the significance of the elevated calcium and make appropriate recommendations.
