I have recently been diagnosed with stage one breast cancer. I have not had any surgery as of yet. Since about two months ago, a month before diagnosis I have been having extreme hot flashes every 5 minutes, not sweatingSweating Sweating - absent, just so hot. Sometimes its followed by extreme cold sometimes not. I get very cold at any given time as well. In the morning with nightgown, heavy an slippers, I cant seem to warm up either. I know I am at the age where menopause symptoms begin but something is just not right. Im sure of it. I have had past endocrineEndocrine glands Pancreatic islet cell tumor problems in the past,'CushingCushing syndrome" about 15 yrs ago. I went to see my endo Dr.and he want to put me on effexorEffexor Effexor xr? What else could I explore or what kind of test could I insist on having to diagnose this problem. If every womenWomen's way going through menopause had this severe of a problem she would definely be diabilitated. I almost cannot not function. I would greatly appreciate any direction.
I think if I were you I could be giving more consideration to the breast cancer issue and put the possible menopausal problems aside for now. This side is one dealing specifically with breast cancer and would have nothing to offer on the other matters. You might try posting on one of the other Forums for answers but since you have an Endocrinologist I feel you should be bringing up these concerns with him/her. Menopause has many undesirable symptoms but these will pass in time. Regards .....
hi, I am not going to even think about diagnosing your hot flashes, but they could well be due to menopause. What I can offer though is empathy. I was put into menopause by chemotherapy, and I know what you are talking about. it;s very awful. I remember the chillsChills seemed to be even worse than the hot flashes; they were almost painful. It has gotten better for me, improved. it seems like most things eventually do pass? Kat
