how did my dad get breast cancer?

so my dad just got breast cancer. yes my DAD. and we do not have any types of cancer run in my family.
he went through chemo and also radiation. now he has to go to physical therapy because of the radiation tightened his ligaments. he got breast cancer in his lymph nodes on his right side.

how could he have gotten it if i doesnt run in the family.
it cost him and out family a lot.
and im just curious.

My dear if we knew the answer to that question there would be no more breast cancer in the world. Familial breast cancer is only responsible for 5 to 10 % of all breast cancers so that isn't a big factor in the occurance of breast cancer.  I am glad that your Dad received treatment and is doing well.    Regards ....

Hi Sumi, I am so sorry that your dad is being afflicted with cancer...It is rare that men get this disease in the breast,but as men age,it can happen also to them.I am sure that you are all in shock about what's happening, especially you,being so young and having to go through such a hard time.Nobody knows why some people get cancer and others don't.We usually think that if it runs in the family,we too will get it.My parents lived to a very ripe old age and so did their own parents,none of them got cancer and yet,I was diagnosed with breast cancer last year,I had my surgery,radiotherapy and now I am on medication for the next 5 years.As you can see,life is not always rosy but we have to do our best and be strong to overcome the bad times that unfortunately comes our way when we least expect it.Try to be strong for your dad and am I sure that if you keep a positive attitude,it's going to help him to get better.I truly wish you all the best,for you and your dad.
