hysterectomy after breast cancer

by mdg315, Feb 18, 2008 09:29PM
I was 34 when I had a lumpectomy for a stage 1 tumor, ER negative, 4 years ago.  Since then I have been thinking about having my ovaries removed or a full hysterectomy as a preventative measure, but am not sure of the downside of that decision.  I am not having any more children and am concerned about the increased chance of ovarian cancer.  I would not like to take HRT drugs, but would definitely add more calcium, etc.  Can you tell me some of the drawbacks to having ovaries removed or a hysterectomy at 38?
