i have a lump

I noticed a lump in my right breast about 3 days ago and I never noticed it before.  It is sore and hurts to the touch.  I'm young (only 18) so I doubt it's anything like breast cancer and I've heard breast cancer lumps don't hurt, but I'm a 'lil worried. Could it be a cyst?  I'm a dancer and pretty thin. So I'm even wondering if maybe they're just hitting a bit of a growth spurt or something.  I just want an idea of what it possibly could be.  I'm not sure if it's just swelling because of my menstrual cycle because my cycle can be irregular.  Can someone give me some help?

The lump could be related to your menstrual cycle, due to the hormonal fluctuations. What you can do is try some breast massage, exercises, hot compressus and OTC painkillers. Also do you remember any injury or trauma to the site. If the lump still persists then you need to consult a physician for a clinical evaluation. Also a mammogram should be done if your physician thinks it appropriate. That would also help in diagnosing whether the lesion is cystic or solid. Goodluck.
