i have a reoccuring painful large breast lump

hello, about 2 months ago i began to have severe stinging pain in my right breast. i swelled up 2 cup sizes and was unbearable. imade a doctors appt, but skipped it as the swelling and most of the pain went down after i started my memstral cyce. shortly after my cycle , the pain and swelling reappeared in full force.the next month...same thing. my grandmother had a very small bit of breast cancer a couple of years ago. but i am only 30 years old.any advice out there? has anyone had or heard of anything like this before? naturally, i am quite concerned and any imput would be greatly appreciated.

Breast changes like these can occur in accordance with a womans hormone levels throughout her menstrual cycle.  The height of the pain and swelling is usually at the time prior to menses and usually regresses by the time you have your menses.  However, your's is somewhat unusual in that only one breast is affected as usually both breasts are (since hormones usually do not select between the right and the left breast).  With the family history of cancer, I suggest you have this looked at by your doctor.  He may request imaging studies like mammograms or ultrasound, and examine your breast thoroughly for hidden lumps.  Regards.
