It's not cancer, but I understand your worry. Everything 'unknown' is worrysome. Katrin

At 17, statistically the chances of this bump being cancer are really very low. Most lumps are benign changes most likely related to hormones and cancer isn't usually painful. However, survivor is right that you should tell your Mom. Just being a woman, she probably has knowledge of what breast changes mean and should be able to ease your concerns. I'm a Mom too, and that's what Mom's are for!  Any changes that are unusual for you should be checked out by a doctor and additional testing will be ordered if there's a need.
I'm hoping everything will turn out fine for you and wish you all the best!

First of all its a good thing that you are checking at such a young age! Second, you said its a bump. Is this on the outside of your breast? Is it discolored? If , its on the Inside, any lump should be checked by your doctor. Does it mean its cancer? The only way to know for sure would be after proper testing by a doctor. You should go to your mom and tell her your concerns. Im pretty sure she will be happy to guide you through! Oh and the worrying for your mom would be if you kept this from her! I know I am a mom of a daughter and also a breast cancer survivor!
