I'm sure you aren't very happy about the recommendation of a biopsy but let me assure you that your Radiologist is using Great Care and not leaving anything to chance. This is excellent Medical Care !! There are several types of biopsies, some of which may be done in the Radiology Department and some that could even be done in Outpatient Surgery. IF you aren't seeing a Breast Specialist or Surgeon now you may be referred to one to determine what type of biopsy will be required. This will give you peace of mind as a definite diagnosis will be determined. Keep us posted as things progress. Regards ....
Went today had a mammogram and a ultrasound. The radiologist came in and kept looking at the left breast ultrasound finally he said just to be sure it is not cancer I need a biopsy. He just didn't trust the ultrasound pictures that the spot was begine. He said why I didn't feel it because it is so small. So the only way he felt was right is to have a biopsy. So I don't know what to think. He said if it is cancer it is in a very early stage. He just didn't know.
You will receive more information after the additional views are taken. Filming from different angles shows a much better picture of the entire breast and can clarify any doubts that the 2 or 3 views of a screening Mammogram has left. Let us hear from you when you get your final results .... Best wishes
mammogram incomplete...Finding mostly begnin (not cancer) more images needed. Yhat was my report.
I'm not quite clear as to your question but it isn't at all unusual to be called back for additional views after having a Mammogram. Often more/different views will be taken and/or an Ultrasound will also be included in the study. You don't state what was found on your screening Mammogram so it could be anything from just a shadow, tissue folded over on itself or perhaps another abnormality. Keep in mind that Mammogram and/or Ultrasound cannot diagnose a cancer; this takes a biopsy but the films can certainly indicate benign findings. Take things one step at a time and don't think too far ahead of the testing that is being done. Regards ....
